The mid summer festivities got underway around 1800 on the 20th August with a bar-b que held at The Blenheim Centre. The event was primarily organised as an awareness event to attract new members which it did with several attendees committing to join the branch. we might even have convinced a new youth member to join but sadly that will be his branch in Kent as he was here visiting his grand parents with his sister. One of our dedicated events committee Amos was the driver of the event and organised the food and entertainment. Over 40 people were there to enjoy the food prepared by one of the local RAF servicemen ably assisted by his family, thank you Woody and Gemma. The age range was from 12 to 94 and most entered into the spirit by joining in the games girls against boys. The girls won but the overall night was declared a draw after a double or quits game of shove halfpenny was convincingly won by the boys. Incidentally the shove halfpenny board was supplied by our 89 year old presidents grandad, he didn't attend. A fun time was had by all and a cheery bunch with full bellies finally locked the door about 2300, and rest!
