On the evening of 25th September 2018 at St. Mary's Church Watton, an historic event took place. The official affiliation of our branch with the 1st Watton Guides took place with the branch Chaplain Rev. Gerry Foster officiating. There were Guides looking splendid in their uniforms, Legion members wearing their best outfits complete with medals and our serving Welfare officer in her No. 1 RAF uniform. Lots of parents attended even one of the Legion members mums was there. In all we had a fabulous turnout. The branch and Guides standards marched in and we had the Exhortation shared between myself and one of the Guides. The Guides then renewed their promise after a new member had made her own personal promise to become a fully fledged Guide. There was singing, speeches and readings by the assembled groups, an inspiring offering from the Chaplain completed the evening perfectly. The official signing and exchanging of certificates followed by the full Guide compliment being presented with their affiliation badges. The standards collected and salute to the National Anthem saw the standards march out to the Royal British Legion march. This was all followed with some socialising and copious refreshment supplied by St. Mary's. If you missed it you definitely missed out.
