A new era starts with our AGM firstly with a new venue at the Blenheim Centre which is situated near the few remaining RAF married quarters on Tedder close. The building is run as a families club by the RAF residents and they welcomed us as new partners, allocating us a permanent seat on the committee. As our contribution to the partnership the branch supplied paint for the committee to re-decorate the bar, which was finished in a very RAF/RBL red white and blue. There was a good turn out of members with some new, some old and representatives from the affiliated youth organisations. The county Chairman John Boisson also attended to witness the proceedings. Two of the long standing members of the committee stood down after making significant and conscientious commitments. Alan Chilvers resigned as Chair after several years and David Sell who we believe has kept Watton ranch afloat, with his wife Jean, for many, many years. We all wish them well, hoping they can enjoy a well earned rest confident that the new team can carry on the good work and be a credit to their previous efforts. John Daly was elected as new Chair, and Alison Galvin took over at the treasury. Helen Daly and Paul Weatherill remain in their posts as Secretary and Vice Chair respectively. The now vacant post of Branch Community Support Representative was taken on by Dawn Ford who will be assisted by newcomer and positively youthful Vicky Southward. The end of the proceedings' saw John Boisson congratulate the branch for the good work it is doing and the progress over the last year by being on the verge of attaining "large branch" status. He concluded by presenting David Sell with a pewter model of a Gloster Meteor fighter, engraved with his name and thanks for long service to RBL, as a token of appreciation from the branch. The evening ended with a raffle and the group remaining for several ales and a good old chin wag.
